This weekend sees a milestone birthday...40!!
No! Not me! There are still
a few several years before I enter my fifth decade and anyway I have started mainlining rosehip oil so I might never get there...
The other (older) club bunny is the Nameless Jarndunmunha Festival which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Technically the festival kicked off last weekend with the Nameless Ball but the party really got started today.
This year's N-J-Fest includes a series of community events including a street parade, jewellery making workshops, art competitions and exhibitions, fashion and talent shows, community group demos, a fireworks display and Diesel in concert (Diesel will be entirely unknown to those who didn't spend the '80s in Australia).
Today we went to have a look at the People's Exhibit in the TP community centre. Freya and Esther were both represented in the Tom Price Primary School display.

Freya's mask. Disclaimer: Freya didn't actually make or decorate this mask, she was still in Perth on the day her classmates created their exhibit contributions; her teacher made this one so that there was something on display that had Freya's name on it. Freya wasn't worried! |

This evening we picked up Shirl and headed for the town oval where there was a carnival in progress. The girls ate doughnuts, slushies and ice cream despite finishing their dinners just before we left the house (I include Shirley and myself in "the girls"!). We picked which rides we wanted to go on and which rides we would be avoiding at all costs. Shirley bought a bag and we all watched the fashion show and the fireworks.

We bumped into LOTS of people we know (it's a small town!). Here are a couple of our favourite people to know. |

Tomorrow morning we'll be watching the street parade and taking lots of photos; then back to the carnival to consume more sugar, fat and artificial colouring and try and keep it down after a turn on the flying umbrella ride.
