Australia Day

We spent our Australia Day morning at the pool. I suspect there is no better place in TP to spend Australia Day. We all had a fantastic time.

Ade was on BBQ duty, he cooked 506 eggs.
In hindsight, his morning may not have been as "fantastic" as ours.
The girls had spent an afternoon at the pool last week building rafts for the raft races. Esther was a paddler (or "oarer" as she likes to say) for one raft, Freya was a kicker for another.
Girls start their heat

Freya's raft "The Endeavour" wins the heat

Freya and her crew come a respectable second in the final and win themselves $50 (of which Freya's share is $7!)

Oswald and Peta

Poor Queensland is copping it again. Cyclone Oswald has dumped a few lake-loads of water onto the sunshine state and the national headlines have moved from fire to flood.
The Pilbara has recently received its own soaking courtesy of Cyclone Peta. TP was lucky that our rain provided a welcome relief from the febrile conditions of the past month and the flooded creeks granted opportunities for play rather than a reason to sandbag.

M&T's back yard turned grotto
Tropical Cyclone Narelle proved Pilbara party-pooper last week when she prevented our old pal Shirley from attending Mary-Mary's for what was to have included a belated, combined celebration of Shirl and Esther's birthdays. Mary hosts an impressive do and we partied on regardless. Esther was the lucky recipient of a beautiful apron that Mary had made for her, the girls' Christmas gifts from M&T were also M-M originals. Mary's creative talent is impressive, we are all HUGE fans of M&T xxx
This made me snort. The girls and I had our hair cut at home this week by a 20 year old. I told her my name was Lou, she called me "mum".
This critter met his maker with the aid of insect spray and a fly-swat. I did not want him making himself at home in my car. When I was a student nurse on prac at Royal Perth ED I treated a woman who had had a car accident when she flipped down her sun visor and a spider fell into her lap causing her to swerve off the road into a fence. The nurse I was working with told me that she'd seen a few casualties from accidents that had happened in just the same way.
The O'Bs have been TP residents for 14 years. Esther and I will miss our friends, we wish we'd known you sooner and longer O'Bs.

Good luck in your next adventure O'Bs!! See ya later xxxx

A milestone for Ade.

Holy McMoly, them's expensive berries!

Enormously proud of Freya who won her class citizenship award this year. It is (and I can safely say this since Esther won the same award last year) the best award to win since it means that you are an enormously good person raised by decent and sensitive folks with superior parenting skills. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.
We were so lucky that both girls had excellent teachers this year.

Bought in TP Coles! Microwaved to death by Ade on Boxing day.
